Introduction
The 21st century is an era of rapid urbanization. More and more tunneling works are or will be under construction. Much more attention will be paid to the safety and risk caused by tunneling, especially to the influence on nearby structure, road, pipeline and other infrastructures.
Recent years China and Japan have obtained many experiences in this field, and formed respectively of principles and technologies with high levels. For enhancing the capacity of mitigating risk and guaranteeing safety, it is the time and need to exchange and summarize the knowledge and technologies from both sides.
After discussing with CSRME, Shandong University, Nagasaki University, Tongji University and Chongqing University will jointly hold the fourth China-Japan Workshop on Tunneling Safety and Risk in Ji'nan, Shandong, China on August 24-25, 2012.
Symposium topics
- Influence analysis on structure, road and pipeline by tunneling
- Risk assessment and management in tunneling and underground works
- Harmonization design between soil or rock and structural safety
- Mitigation measures in tunneling hazard
- Risk-based tunneling maintenance method
- Forecasting and controlling on water or mud inrush in karst tunnels
- Other topics on infrastructure safety and risk
